PEACE AT FCC

On Thursday 11th of February, 2021 Members of the Federal Character Commission were at the senate to meet with the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs under the Chairmanship of Senator Danjuma La’ah. The Committee attempted to breaker peace with the two groups of Members in the Commission who are at loggerheads over the best operational methods to adopt in ensuring deliverables of the Commission to Nigerians.

The issues involve how best to constitute Committees to relate with MDAs, the issue of Waiver granted to MDAs, the relationship of the operational Committees with the Executive Chairman and other administrative issues on budgets and expenditures in the Commission.

The Senate Committee accepted the composition of a 5-man Committee each on either side to articulate their positions to be discussed at a later meeting with the Senate Committee within one week.

At a later press briefing, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka OON, thanked the Senate Committee for the efforts being made to find a lasting peace in the Commission. She reiterated her resolve to seek equity, fairness and justice in the operational duties of the Commission.
