Mr. Onobun Vincent Ebhodaghe:

dsapadMr. Onobun Vincent Ebhodaghe, Irete was born on 10th July, 1962. He attended; Benin Public School from 1968 – 1976, Ewu Grammar School from 1974 – 1979, University of Benin 1980-1984, University of Benin 1988 – 1990 and University of Benin 1994- 1997. Mr. Onobun holds a BSC (Hons) degree in Geography (1984), MSc Geomorphology (1990) and PGD (Computer Science) 1997. He is a member of the computer professionals of Nigeria and a Member of the Charter Institute of Personnel Management. Mr. Onobun started his Public Service career as a teacher in 1986 and moved over to the administrative class in the then Bendel State Civil Service in 1990. He rose to the position of Assistant Chief Administrative Office GL.13 before transferring his service to the Federal Character Commission in 1999. A very diligent and dexterous officer, Mr. Onobun has through tact, intelligence, mastery of the job and astuteness rose through the ranks by working at various desks in the Edo State Office as Coordinator and the Head office as Head of Statistics Division, Secretary to Defence, Education, power and Energy Operational Committees, Head of Investigation Division and Head of Public Enlightenment Division before becoming a Director in July, 2012. He is at present the Director of States and Plenary Affairs of the Commission and Head of Anti-corruption Unit. He is married with children.

The Department is saddled with the following functions:
(i) Serving as the Secretariat for the plenary of the Commission.

(ii) Production of decisions extracts and distribution of same to the various affected offices.

(iii) Taking charge and custody of the Boardroom of the Commission and ensuring that its facilities are in good working conditions.

(iv) In-charge of the Commissioners' sundry welfare matters such as issuance and processing correspondence(s) on behalf of the Hon. Commissioners.

(v) Ensuring the implementation of Federal Character Commission General Policy Guidelines as it affect the States.

(vi) To coordinate and oversee the activities of the State Offices in each zone and to ensure effective monitoring, collection, collation and prompt rendition of staff returns by State/Local Government Agencies.

(vii) To receive, examine and summarise monthly, quarterly and Annual Report and Manpower Return from state offices and make appropriate recommendations.

(viii) To examine administrative, logistics and personnel problems affecting the state offices and recommend to the Commission appropriate measures to ameliorate same.

(ix) To carry out any other assignment as may be directed by the Commission.
